(BEIJING, July 25) -- An international project to enhance training for the Beijing Olympic Games was launched in Beijing on Wednesday.
The project, with a budget of 1.4 million US dollars, was jointly set up by the Office of the Coordination Group for the Volunteer Work of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Beijing Youth League, the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Volunteers Program (UNV).
The project is committed to helping train key volunteers for the Beijing Games, promote environmental protection programs, and provide voluntary services to transform the Olympic legacies.
The three-year project will also push forward volunteerism after the Olympic Games, encouraging the volunteers to be devoted to poverty-eradication, health, education, gender equality and AIDS prevention.
