Under the curtain of darkness, the Bird's Nest became the first scene of the official movie of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.

Officials from both the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad and the International Olympic Committee jointly announced the start of the movie shot schedule. Also present were Olympic gold medal winners Xu Haifeng, Lou Yun, and Wu Shude, who were once on hand to take part in the official movie for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

It is a well-established tradition, dating back to the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games, that each Olympic Games produce an official movie. With the advent of the Olympic Games in China next year, the current movie production is the first of its kind.

Jiang Xiaoyu, Executive Vice-President of BOCOG, said that he "hoped the movie would record touching stories of friendship and harmony and reflect the spirit of the Olympic Games."

The movie will be presented by the Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio.
