A trial equestrian competition will be held next weekend in Hong Kong to test out logistics and weather for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Horses and their riders from France, Britain and many other nations are expected to compete from August 11-13.
In order to keep the horses healthy, an air-conditioning system has been installed in the newly-constructed stables, training arena and equestrian venues, for the first time in Olympic history.
Li Kecheng is from the company which organzes the equestrian events. He says that they are taking every measures to prevent the sweltering summer heat and humidity in Hong Kong affecting the performance and the health of the horses.
"Horses, just like humans, are individuals, and individuals sometimes behave in a way that you can't predict and can have a problem when you will not predict them to have a problem, and therefore we will always be prepared for that."
In addition, ice water will be used to cool horses down. Ventilation system and electrical fans have been installed to better circulate air in the stables.
