The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will take Taiwan compatriots into full consideration, with business opportunities and the volunteer program open to them, said an Olympic official.
Vice-President of the Chinese Olympic Committee Tu Mingde told Xinhua today that Taiwan businessmen can share the Olympic business opportunities through sales of licensed products including Olympic souvenirs.
According to Tu, "it is much possible" for the Taiwan compatriots to do such business if their practice is in line with the guidelines of International Olympic Committee. Detailed operations can be discussed on a "case by case" basis, he added.
In the area of volunteers, the Olympic organizers will recruit as many as 60,000 to 100,000 volunteers nationwide for the 2008 Games and the Taiwan compatriots are welcome to enter their names for participation in the program, Tu said.
Tu said those Taiwan compatriots, who are willing to watch the Olympic competitions in Beijing, may order tickets through the Chinese Taibei Olympic Committee, their relatives on the Mainland, or online ticketing which will be opened later. |
