Time:2005-12-06 Author:danfeng

Yunnan Province is located in southwest China covering an area of 394,000 kilometers and about 2000m above sea level. The province borders Burma, Laos and Vietnam on its west. The capital city is Kunming, a city of spring, and a major gateway on the ancient "Southern Silk Road".

This province boasts magnificent mountains, deep virgin forests, precipitous valleys and a sound natural environment. Kagebo Peak, with an elevation of 6740m, is perennially covered with snow and still unconquered by mankind. There are also some wonderful geological attractions here ranging from stone forests to limestone caves.

Yunnan province boasts the largest number of minority groups in the country, who for hundreds of years have endowed the place with a colorful and rich folk art.

Red, yellow, blue and green, the tender peacocks, whirling skirts of Xishuangbanna GirlsĄIn my mind, Yunnan is a colorful dream, but when I arrived here, I discovered that everything was pure and simple.
I challenged myself in Tiger Leaping Gorge. The rugged beauty of Meili Snow mountain, Yulong Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain is attracting adventurers worldwide; in the peaceful old town of Lijiang, people like to stay in their houses leisurely, indulging themselves in Dongba Culture and Naxi Ancient Music.

I went to Yunnan in November, 2003. At that time, the climate was temperate and the landscape was beautiful. DonĄ¯t go to Yunnan in summer, or you would suffer from great heat. Spend just one day to visit Xishuang Banna. The great dance and singing performance named "The Evening of Meigong River" is very good, 120Y including self-help barbecue. Yulong Snow mountain is really very beautiful.
